Police

In response to the needs of a growing community, the Roaring Brook Township Police Department was organized in 1974. Located in southeastern Lackawanna County in Northeastern Pennsylvania, we share borders with the city of Scranton, the boroughs of Dunmore and Moscow, and Jefferson, Madison, and Spring Brook Townships.

We provide basic and some specialized law enforcement services in a township which is 22.4 square miles with a resident population of 1,907 citizens. In addition, the Roaring Brook Police Department provides contracted police services for Elmhurst Township, which is a community of 1.9 square miles and a population of 894 residents.

Combining the two townships, our coverage area is approximately 25 square miles and has more than 73 miles of state, county and local roadways. There are two major interstate highways that intersect in our township -- Interstate 380 and Interstate 84. Police services on the interstate highways are provided by the Pennsylvania State Police.

The Roaring Brook Township Police Department employs four officers. Our officers are recognized for their professionalism and community policing skills. Our mission is to provide quality service to our community and to establish a safe environment for those who live, work, and visit our community.

We work in partnership with the Pennsylvania State Police and other local police departments to protect lives, property and quality of life within our neighborhoods. We are committed to identifying, arresting, and prosecuting criminals and to creating a safe travel environment through consistent traffic enforcement. We utilize the latest technologies and law enforcement equipment.

The Roaring Brook Township Police Department is dispatched for emergencies through the Lackawanna County 9-1-1 emergency dispatch center, The Pennsylvania State Police assists our department when our officers are not available.
