Members of the Sewer
Authority Board are
appointed by the
Roaring Brook Township
Board of Supervisors
to serve five-year terms.

           The Roaring Brook Township Sewer Authority was created by the Board of Supervisors back in 196?. As an authority, under the Municipal Authorities Act, the Sewer Authority operates independently of the Roaring Brook Township Supervisors. There is no tax money involved in its operation. All income is derived by billing the people who use the services. As a result, anyone not using the service does not pay toward it. This is known as "user pays" and is why tax money can not be used to help offset the cost of sewer installation.

The Sewer Authority Board plans, constructs, and funds projects that provide municipal sewer service to the township. When the  cost of project is finally determined, the Authority borrows the money from PennVest and other commercial lenders. The loans are paid off through the fees charged to the customers for installation and use -- charging the customers only what it costs to operate the service. It is a non-profit agency carrying out an enterprise function.

The Roaring Brook Township Sewer Authority Board maintains and operates the entire sanitary sewer system, including five pump stations and collection sewers. This is done with a staff of two office personnel and a consulting engineering firm that provides all plan reviews, system designs, and construction inspections and the day to day physical operations. The authority also has a solicitor under contract who prepares developer’s agreements, resolutions,  and provides legal advice.

The Sewer Authority meets the first Wednesday of every other month at 7:00 p.m.
The Roaring BrookTownship Sewer Authority Board holds their business meeting at 7:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every other month; and, their work session at 6:30 p.m.prior to the business meeting. Both meetings are held at the sewer township building on Blue Shutters Road.
